Chester Boots are a fourth generation family-owned footwear company, based in Portugal.
For many years they have produced boots for third party private shoe and boot companies who have used Chester's facilities to produce their own goods.
Now Chester are using a well-known UK shoe and boot designer who has worked for the very best over the years, and they are producing their own range of quality equestrian-orientated boots and shoes.
The designer and I have worked together for many years on projects for companies like Quantum Saddles and Tagg Equestrian, often using the same models and venues for out photoshoots.
He got in touch with me in the summer of 2022 in order to arrange a shoot for Chester boots, using both still photography and videography. Chester's team would be in the UK for the BETA trade show in September, so a date was arranged which enabled them to join us for the shoot.
Chester have all their own studio photography of products so it made no sense to double up on this. Instead we shot products in real world, equestrian lifestyle environments. On mounting blocks, mounted on Alex Tordoff's lovely eventers, on and around the yard.
Although this wasn't a studio shoot, some external lighting was used. We had very strong directional lighting on the day so shadows were deep and needed to be partly filled with off-camera flash, for which I used a V1.
