Ben Maher is a British show jumping rider who won gold in the individual jumping event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He is also a two-time team gold medalist (2012 and 2020) and a two-time individual silver medalist (2013 and 2019) at the European Championships.
Maher's most successful horse is Explosion W, a 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding. Explosion W and Maher have won numerous competitions together, including the 2019 Longines Global Champions Tour Final, the 2019 CHIO Aachen Grand Prix, and the 2020 Olympic Games individual jumping event.
Explosion W was born in 2009 in Belgium. He is sired by Chacco-Blue, a world-renowned show jumping stallion. Explosion W was originally owned by the Dutch rider Eric van der Vleuten, but he was sold to Maher in 2017.
Explosion W is a powerful and athletic horse with a great jumping technique. He is also very careful and consistent, which makes him a valuable asset to Maher in competition.
