The Quorn Hunt traditionally hold their opening meet at their kennels at Kirby Bellars, just West of Melton Mowbray.
Since the 2004 Hunting Act, fox hunts have become clean boot packs, following previously laid trails for the hounds to follow, and carrying a bird of prey in case a fox is flushed by hounds accidentally.
This was the first time that the Quorn Hunt hounds were hunted by Ollie Finnegan, long time supporter and follower of the hunt. He was joined on the day by his wife Rachel and their children.
After the meet itself, attended by 50 or so mounted supporters and probably twice as many on foot, the hounds moved away following the first trail towards Trussells Covert.
Here the trail led the mounted field over a fallen tree in the corner of a field and on towards the village of Great Dalby.
