This is the annual Melton Hunt Club Ride preview 2023.
The Melton Hunt Club Ride 2023 is hosted by the Belvoir Hunt at Long Clawson.
The course starts in a southerly direction, just West of Canal Lane. After a brief loop the course continues North towards Hose Thorns, where the course cross Canal Lane before heading South over the Hose Thorns hedges towards the old team chase course.
A one-way system will be operating on Canal Lane on the day with car parking on the East side of Canal Lane near the finish and the Admin Hub.
Lorry parking will be on the East side of Canal lane at What Three Words: BANDWAGON.SECURES.SEASHELL. The Secretary and post-ride presentations will take place at the same What Three Words.
Maps will be posted here very soon.

The Melton Hunt Club Ride Course
Fences 3-8 are in a generally westerly direction, away from Canal Lane.
After fence 8, the open ditch, the course turns northwards to fence 9 which has a red marker at the right-hand end.
At fence 14 the course once again turns left and continues northwards parallel to Canal Lane. There is a white marker in the corner where fence 14 meets fence 15.
Fence 20 marks the turning point and has a red marker at its right hand end.
After jumping fence 20 the course crosses the road by Hose Thorns covert.
If you previously read this preview then the course has now changed.
After the brook crossing the course now continues in a straight line to a red marker on the edge of the wood at the end of the field after the brook.
The course then turns right around the wood and returns in a northerly direction.
As the course has changed I don't have photos of the last few efforts but the course goes back across the stream and heads north to the finish at w3w masking.leaflet.expiring.
*UPDATED* The Belvoir Equine Foxhunter Course
The Foxhunter course starts over the same fence that was fence 2 in the ride, but in the opposite direction.
From here the course continues North over MHCR Fence 1 and on to Fence 3.
The course has now changed and heads right, around the wood to Blue marker 4 on the map, after which the stream must be crossed again in a northerly direction towards the finish at w3w masking.leaflet.expiring.
I also teach photography. I mentor photographers with a range of experience, from beginners to working professionals and run an equine photography course which gives members access to articles about the business of equestrian photography.
I have a varied set of skills, having worked for well known web design and web analytics companies in parallel to my photography.
I design, host and maintain websites for clients as varied as farms, interior designers and equestrian centres, as well as for bloggers and sportspeople, including many riders.
