Welcome to a short series of isolation interviews, in which my brand ambassadors introduce themselves, their teams and their horses, and give us an idea of what their hopes and aims might be for the coming season.

Please introduce yourself

My name is Greta Mason and I am 23yrs old.

I was born is Australia before moving to England where my extended family live. This is when I started riding and have been hooked ever since. I have lived most of my life in Northamptonshire near Stamford (Burghley being my closest event) before making a move at the beginning of last season to be based with Rodney Powell in Wiltshire. I currently have a great string of horses to work with out of my yard; from young stock we have bred all the way up to my top horse Cooley For Sure (Murphy).

Introduce your team, trainers and helpers

I’m am lucky enough to work with some of the top trainers in the area. Being based with Rodney [Powell] and Alex Franklin I benefit from regular training with my horses in all phases, as well as having lessons with Showjumper Grant Wilson. On top of all this I have a great team including, my farrier, dentist and physio just to name a few. I am also very grateful for my owners without whom none of this would be possible.

Tell us about your career highlights to date

I’ve been fortunate enough to ride some lovely horses that I’ve produced from scratch which has been immensely satisfying including a couple that jumped double clear around the Young Rider Championships and also won at the Pony Club Championships.

My current top horse Cooley For Sure I have had since he was a 5yo and we have competed up to 4*S with high hopes for the next couple of years.

On top of this, recently I've really enjoyed backing our first homebred Daredevil Penny Red by Britainnia’s Mail  alongside producing some quality young eventing horses that will be out this season. As much as we aim for big things, sometimes the smaller achievements can be just as rewarding and this is especially true with my new homebred.  He has an amazing temperament and good jump so I am excited to see how far he will go.

In addition to the competing I have also got my teaching qualifications and achieved my A Test with Honours.

Aims for 2021

This year my biggest aim is to get to Bramham for the U25 Championships on my top horse Cooley For Sure and then head to Blenheim at the end of the season to gain our 5* qualification.

I have some talented young horses also coming up through the levels that will aim for the 5 & 6 year old Championships at the end of the year.

Which are the ones to watch in your string?

One up and coming horse I am really excited about producing is Ravenala, a stunning Ramiro B gelding brought from the Saxelbye Manor Stud.  He is a rising 6yo and showing great potential.  I have had a few really positive runs on him at the end of last year. He will be aimed at Osberton 6yo champs and hopefully Le Lion next year.

Which horses with other riders should we keep an eye on?

Well one of the young up and coming people on the circuit has to be Daisy Bathe.  I’m really looking forward to seeing how she gets on this season as she now has the fabulously brave and talented mare Tinker’s Pearl. I had the pleasure of bringing this mare on from a 5 year old and taking her to the International Young Riders u21 at Houghton where she stormed round.  I think that Daisy is a very able rider and will get a great tune out to her. So watch that space!
