The forecast was right, unfortunately, and the rain barely stopped during seven hours of competition at Ranksboro' as Pony Clubbers of all ages took part in the Cottesmore Hunt's Eventer Trial.
Competitors completed an untimed show jumping section before moving on to a "cross country" phase which included bigger spreads and rustic fences. The second phase was against the clock.
Each class included a subsidiary section for non Pony Club members who were keen to get some practice in and these sections were well-supported.
It was particularly nice to see young competitors with well-known surnames proving that the next generation is in very good hands!
