Rutland-based chartered engineers and building surveyors Smithers Purslow got in touch with me and asked me to document their golf day, to be held at The Leicestershire Golf Club in Evington.
Clients had been invited to take part in a round of 18 holes, along with special guest, England cricketer Matthew Hoggard. After the golf and a break for some drinks, everyone was invited to an early evening meal and awards ceremony.
Another important facet of the day was charity fundraising, for the local sports injury charity, The Matt Hampson Foundation. Each of the 18 golf holes was sponsored by local businesses, and collections were made in the evening during the dinner totalling about £3,000.
The golf club was incredibly welcoming, treating everyone as valued guests, both during the day as well as later, when the food served was exceptional.
