Event Rider Vittoria Panizzon contacted me and asked me to help her update her existing website for Vittoria Panizzon Eventing which was beginning to look a little dated.
The ensuing discussion covered what sort of sites she already liked and what she liked about her existing site and would like to retain if possible.
Our most important aim was to make Vittoria’s site much more mobile friendly because analytics showed that her Google ranking was being hampered by the current site’s poor responsiveness.
We discussed which pages she would like and settled on a fairly standard set of pages including About, Team, Horses, Sponsors, Photo Gallery and Contact pages. I set about creating Custom Post Types for various elements of her business prior to then using them to dynamically generate pages from CPTs which were easy for Vittoria or one of her staff members to change and update.
One of the key features which Vittoria loved in her existing site was the use of her shield-like logo, so I decided to use this as the ubiquitous site logo, which, on clicking, would always return you to the home page. A quick bit of coding also added an effect on mouse hover which guided the user to clicking,
