In September 2015 Nico was commissioned by Land Rover Defender to record the equestrian competition at Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.
The brief was to capture the action, in all phases of the event, alongside the company’s branding and products. The images were then used for their social media and press releases.
Later in 2015 Nico was also sent by Land Rover to photograph two of Land Rover’s Brand Ambassadors, Ben Maher and Laura Tomlinson.
Ben Maher MBE is a British show jumper who won the team jumping gold medal at the London Olympics with Team GB, their first team jumping gold medal for 60 years. He has won many international Grand Prix including the Olympia Grand Prix, Hickstead King George V Gold Cup and the FEI World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix at Wellington.
Laura Tomlinson (née Bechtolsheimer) MBE is a British dressage rider who represented Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics, where she won team Gold and individual Bronze on Mistral Højris (Alf).
Both riders were photographed as they recorded video Masterclasses which Land Rover will publish at a later date. Ben was then photographed for Countryside Magazine as they interviewed him during a relaxed hack around his village. Laura was then photographed for the company’s Academy of Sport helping two young rising stars in the sport of dressage, Ruth Hole and Phoebe Peters.
In December 2016, Nico returned to Ben Maher’s Elsenham yard on behalf of Land Rover and The Pony Club. Ben had agreed to give some training to winners of a Pony Club competition.
For Burghley Horse Trials in 2017, Nico was again commissioned to cover the event for title sponsors.
In February 2018, Land Rover commissioned Nico to photograph three new Discovery Sport vehicles which have been loaned to British Dressage, British Eventing and British Showjumping.
Nico Has continued to cover the five Land Ro ver sponsored events of Royal Windsor Horse Show, Bramham International Horse Trials, The Festival of British Eventing, Defender Blair Castle International Horse Trials and The Defender Burghley Horse Trials which are now rebranded in the Defender livery.
Most recently he completed five days at Royal Windsor Horse Show in 2023 where the Sponsorship and Royal and Diplomatic teams were major sponsors of the dressage and several high profile showjumping classes using the Defender brand.
