I have recently started working with Emma Brown Tweed, a rural designer of beautiful tweed-based clothing.
I provide images of their products being worn at shows, images which they then use for PR and Marketing purposes.
Emma Writes:
When my husband Matt and I first got together we decided we would start to rare a few calves as the farm was not in use and we wanted to regenerate it.
We took delivery of some calves just a week old they were poor, frightened little things who had been on the trailer for hours. We got them all feeding all but one a small heifer who was fading and giving up. I wasn’t to be beaten and remember asking my grandmother subconsciously ‘what the hell shall I do’ it came to me she was a baby and babies need feeding warm milk and keeping snug.
I had a piece of tweed in the house which I had bought to make some head warmers.
I will make her a coat! Tweed is the perfect cloth with it being a natural fibre it would warm her up but she wouldn’t over heat. She wore the tweed coat all night and she began to feed.
I’ve always been told never to name your stock but I called her NUNU ‘one love’.
The shooting season started and I bought a tweed coat to shoot in except during the first drive a struggled to lift my gun in place and ended up wearing Matt’s massive coat!
I thought back to NUNU’s coat I thought I will design one and have it made I also designed what is now my ‘loader skirt’ to match it so I have the perfect suit.
I wore the skirt to the game fair that following season and I literally had so many ladies coming up to me asking where I got it from, quick thinking matt proceeded to tell them that it was my design and here was my number.”
