The road to Badminton Horse Trials 2021 has been an extraordinary and completely unexpected one, with lots of changes to both personnel and event.

In June 2019, it was announced that Hugh Thomas, long term Badminton Horse Trials Event Director, would be retiring, and that his experienced Assistant Director Jane Tuckwell would be stepping up to take his place. Andrew Tucker became Commercial Director.
Then, in November 2019, new Official Event Partners were announced, in the form of Science Supplements® and MARS Equestrian™.
“We are delighted to welcome both Science Supplements® and MARS Equestrian™ to the Badminton family as Official Event Partners. We are extremely grateful for their support and look forward to a long and happy association with both partners.” commented The Duke of Beaufort.
Sadly, the inevitable happened, and the National lockdown at the end of March 2020 forced the cancellation of the horse trials for that year, meaning we didn't get to see what changes we might see under new sponsorship.
In September 2020, Becky Elvin was announced as the popular successor to Julian Seaman as Media Manager to Badminon Horse Trials. Becky has worked on many major championships and has been part of the media team at Badminton for ten years.
At the time of writing there are reports of a new variant of COVID-19 causing a rise in cases in the South East of England so we hope that this will not affect the running of this year's horse trials
